Joe Allred, (Lawrence E. “Joe” Allred, PhD) began metal sculpture in 2015 after a long career in biomedical science, first in industry and then in academia, creating several biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies from university research discoveries. Early creative work in writing fiction and stage theater gave way to a science career. In 2017 he left academia, to launch his consulting business, Sendero Mar LLC, and also returned to art as Sendero Mar Creative. Metal sculpture has become Joe’s passion. Two previous works, EPICYCLES and ECCENTRICITY, were accepted for the 2017 State Fair of Texas sculpture exhibition. Those two pieces were also both selected in competition for the 2017-2018 Main Street Art Tracks exhibition in Palestine, Texas where they will be displayed for a year, until November, 2018. IRON DESERT BLOSSOM an investigation in organometallic form, was selected for the 2018 – 2019 Lampasas Art in the Park exhibition. MINER 35 is his contribution selected for the 2018 State Fair of Texas.
